What to See and Do in
Horowhenua is a superb family destination with many fun and interesting things to do outdoors. There are plenty of spaces to run around and enjoy games and picnicking on the beach, by a river or at a protected nature reserve or nature area.
There is a variety of walks with over 50 parks and reserves, ranging from large adventure parks such as the Levin Adventure Park, to scenic coastal or river reserves.
The area has many bird trails and wildlife parks. Manawatu River Estuary (at Foxton Beach) is an internationally recognised bird sanctuary, where migrating and NZ native birds enjoy the mudflats and wetlands.
