Full Description

The tour starts in Blenheim and we will travel the 35 minutes to the town of Havelock. This region has a lot of early history attached to it, Gold mining, Farming, Sawmills and very early Maori settlement in the area. Two famous people attended school here for a short period of time. Ernest Rutherford who was involved in the splitting of the atom and William Pickering who was part the NASA space programme.
The Marlborough Sounds and surrounding landscape has always been an attraction to artists, the clay-based soils and stunning views allow for the artistic qualities to be fostered.
Art Gallery in Havelock. (30 minutes,)
The Gallery is a community funded gallery, artist featured are Rebecca Codlin, Colin Winn, Clary Neame, Rick Edmonds, Glen Waters (Ceramic), and many more. Bone carving, wood carving and other art mediums are all on display.
Morning Tea; (30 minutes)
This will take place in Havelock
Travel from Havelock towards Picton, stopping at the lookout at Cullen’s Point, with views of the Pelorus sounds and Havelock. 
Stroll the link pathway. (20 minutes and weather dependant,)
The link pathway was recently built with volunteer labour and a dedicate group of locals. It connects Picton and Havelock with a safe walking track and in doing so offers some spectacular views. We will stop at Aussie Bay from where you can walk the link pathway to Momorangi Bay, taking in the vistas of the Queen Charlotte Sound. This will take about 20 minutes and is an easy walk.

Visits to artist along the way will be arranged depending on their availability and photo opportunity at the Grove Arm with stops Momorangi and Ngakuta Bay and the Picton Lookout.
Lunch in Picton. 1230. (45 minutes) café Cortado
Art Studio (45 minutes)
In Picton we will visit the artist studio of Painter Rebekah Codlin. An inspiring young artist, Rebekah is a self-taught artist and has a reputation that has seen her art displayed in Galleries in the USA. Rebekah will be there to answer your questions.
Pottery and others. 45 minutes to hour. 
Marlborough Artisan Collective offer a wide range of pottery, art, clothing and other mediums to look at. Karen Keown, unique fused glass jewellery and glass art, Jo Huntley (paper pulp) and Rebecca Hill pottery. Nicky Hill displays her Mandala Art. This is local inspired art and craft. The local potters have an open workshop, where we will have the opportunity to get our hands dirty and talk to the resident potter of the day. This visit will only occur under level 1 due to the inability to social distance.
At 3.30 we will leave Picton ad return to Blenheim. Arriving at 4pm.
If either of these artist are unavailable we will visit offer suitable options.

Meeting Point

I will pick up from Blenheim motels or hotels, or Seymour Square. Be ready my 08.30am. If you accommodation is outside of Blenheim then pickup arrangements will have to be made and will incur an additional cost.

Additional Information

Tours are arranged 4 days before departure. Please bring warm top in case the weather changes. This tour also includes the option of a 20 minute walk along the Link Path way so suitable shoes need to be worn. Also contact us if there are any specific food allergies etc.

Full refund if cancelled up to 48 hours before activity starts.

There is a minimum number of travellers for this experience. If the minimum isn't met and we need to cancel, we will offer a different date/experience or a full refund.
