As arguably the most accessible island in the Bay of Islands, Otehei Bay offers a unique opportunity to explore an island just a short ferry ride from Paihia or Russell. With multiple departures daily you can spend just a few hours or a full day on the island and return at your leisure.
Relax to the soundtrack of waves and bird song or get busy with a day of activities; swim at safe secluded beaches, hire a kayak for some on the water activity, explore the many walking tracks on foot or visit our island conservation centre to learn more about the history of the island and the current conservation efforts of Project Island Song.
Join us for lunch or dinner on the beach front at our fully licensed café or enjoy a drink in the bean bags as you watch the sunset.
CHECK IN:
Departing Paihia - Please report to our office on the Paihia Wharf) oppositre the Information Centre ) 15 minutes prior to departure
If you have requested a pick up from Russell Wharf please be ready at the far end of the wharf 15 minutes prior to departure time.
· IMPORTANT - You will be travelling on board a Fullers GreatSights or Explore NZ Branded vessel
When departing Otehei Bay please be ready on the Otehei Bay Wharf 10 minutes before departure.

WHAT TO WEAR/BRING:
We suggest to wear comfortable clothing, bring a hat, sunscreen and walking shoes.
If you would like to go for a swim, please bring yourself a towel. You may also bring snorkelling gear with you.
Refreshments can be purchased from the cafe at Otehei Bay.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
• BYO Alcohol cannot be carried on the Otehei Bay ferry. Due to liquor licencing laws no BYO alcohol is permitted at Otehei Bay. Food service licencing permits only food purchased at the cafe to be consumed within the cafe and surrounding grass areas. Please observe these notifications as enforcement may offend.
Dangerous Goods
• We are required by law to carry dangerous goods such as but not to limited gas bottles , fuel , combustible liquids in a separate area on board the vessels and they must be declared before departure. • Under the current Covid Traffic Light Framework we require all ferry passengers to have a currrent valid Vaccine pass , please have this ready for verification at check in.
