Stewart Island: Fly | Explore | Fly

Rakiura, meaning 'Glowing skies' in reference to the Southern lights is New Zealand's third-largest island. We are now offering direct flights from Queenstown to Stewart Island, a destination that should be on everyone's bucket list. Departing out of Queenstown Airport and down the Wakatipu towards Kingston, Fly over the vast Southern Farmland, home to a lot of New Zealand's agriculture, and track the Oreti River until you get to Invercargill and the South Coast. With panoramic views of Oreti Beach, Bluff and Toetoes Bay, we then start to make our way over he Foveaux Strait passing some of the smaller islands on the way over including Dog Island and Ruapuki Island. As Stewart gets nearer you will find yourself in a completely different landscape. 

On approach, we will pass Horseshoe Bay and Half moon bay before descending on Ryan's Creek airstrip on the hill overlooking the township of Oban. Our friends at Rakiura Charters & Water Taxis are on hand to take you wherever you'd like to go, with some amazing tours around the Patterson Inlet and over to Ulva Island, one of New Zealand's most accessible pest-free islands. With hours of walking tracks to do and remote beaches, you can easily fill your time exploring or relaxing. Ulva Island is an approximate 7-minute boat trip from Golden bay Wharf.
