Ready to have some fun? Let’s fly over Skippers Canyon and touch down in the mighty Earnslaw Burn. Explore the wonders of the basin, and then we’re off again! Time for our second landing above rustic Glenorchy before soaring back home.

We have designed this flight to show off the beauty and serenity of this spectacular area.

To get to our first landing, we soar through the Moonlight Saddle and over historic Skippers Canyon before sweeping by impressive Mt Earnslaw. We can also pick you up from Queenstown Central outside 37 Camp Street. Please indicate at the time of booking if you need to be picked up. You'll need to meet at this departure point 60 minutes prior to your flight time.

If we cannot operate due to weather and as a result, passengers are unable to fly, no cancellation fees will apply. • Flights depart on demand and are subject to availability. • Flights depart from our base in Queenstown. • Children and infants must be accompanied by a full fare paying adult. • For the purpose of aircraft weight and balance and in accordance with the Civil Aviation Authority rules and regulations, we require all passenger weights at the time of booking. In the warmer months, countless waterfalls greet you, gushing out of the pristine ice. During winter, the waterfalls are fewer, but the glacier is grander, swollen with snow.It’s time to jump back in the helicopter for our second landing. We weave our way towards the rustic township of Glenorchy at the top of Lake Whakatipu. We climb steadily as the pilot calculates the best place to set down that day. Landing on a mountain top, you can fully appreciate the rugged beauty of the region before we take off down the lake, heading back home.The Earnslaw Burn has been featured on:Lord of the RingsThe HobbitTravel Guides AustraliaTrackedThe Summit *In winter months (June – August) the Earnslaw Burn does not have as many fast flowing waterfalls compared to our spring and summer months (September – March). It is still a stunning and magical location to visit during winter as there is usually extra snow coverage on the glacier and throughout the valley.

What kind of helicopter is used for the flight?

Airbus AS355 “Squirrel”, a nimble twin-engine helicopter.

Airbus H130, offering large panoramic windows and a quieter ride, is especially common for scenic flights.

Are there any weight restrictions for passengers?

Yes, for safety and aircraft balance, all passenger weights (in clothing and shoes) are required at booking. The helicopter operator does not enforce strict individual weight limits, but payload weight may affect aircraft selection or seating arrangements.

Are photos and videos allowed during the tour and landings?

Absolutely. Passengers are encouraged to take photos and videos during the flight and at the landing sites.

What should I wear or bring for the helicopter tour?

Closed-toe, sturdy shoes, warm layers and a jacket, sunglasses, sunscreen and camera are recommended.

What happens if weather conditions prevent the flight?

Flights are weather-dependent. If conditions aren’t suitable, you’ll be offered a rescheduled flight or full refund.

Do we get a window seat?

It will depend on how many people are on your helicopter flight. We encourage all clients to swap seats after the landings so everyone gets a chance at a window seat and a different perspective.

What happens if it rains or the bad weather on that day ?

Poor weather means cancellation or rescheduling, with a full refund offered if conditions are unsafe.
