Experience the excitement of watching Fur Seals ducking, weaving, and diving around your kayak on our Wildlife Kayaking tours with Kaikoura Kayaks.

Paddle gently along the coastline as they swim around the Kaikoura Peninsula hunting for their favorite feed of Octopus. But be sure to keep your distance as they devour their delicious dinner in front of you, then watch in amazement as hundreds of Pelagic (ocean-going) birds swoop in to clean up the tasty leftovers.

What is the best time of year to book the kayaking tour?

The best time to book a kayaking tour depends on the specific wildlife you wish to encounter:
Dusky Dolphins: Available year-round.
Fur Seals: Present year-round.
Hectors Dolphins: Best seen in spring.
Orca (Killer Whales): Occasionally spotted in winter.
Blue Penguins: Visible from spring through autumn.
Albatross: Best seen in autumn. 

Is kayaking experience required for this tour?

No previous kayaking experience is required. The tours are suitable for all abilities, and participants will be provided with all necessary equipment, including GORE-TEX dry pants, jackets, wetsuit booties, and dry bags for cameras.

Will I get fully wet during the kayaking tour?

The enclosed sea kayaks are designed to keep you warm and dry. With the provided gear, including dry pants and jackets, you are unlikely to get fully wet. However, some splashes may occur, so its advisable to dress appropriately.

What parking is available?

We have a secure off-street compound available, and there is also plenty of street parking.
All parking is free!
 

Im travelling solo, can I still kayak?

Yes, not a problem, as we will pair you up with a guide or somebody else on the tour.
 

What happens if it rains or the bad weather on that day ?

Poor weather means cancellation or rescheduling, with a full refund offered if conditions are unsafe.
 

What is your cancellation policy?
