Tourist Information About Manawatu

Manawatu sits between rolling farmland, rivers, and the rugged Ruahine Ranges. The region has a relaxed feel and gives visitors a good mix of nature, rural charm, and local life. One of the best ways to enjoy Manawatu is by exploring the outdoors. You can walk or cycle the Manawatu River Pathway, which follows the river through Palmerston North and beyond. If you're up for more of a challenge, head into the Ruahine Forest Park, where there are hiking tracks, birdwatching spots, and scenic lookouts.

For something different, check out Te Apiti – Manawatū Gorge, a place rich in Māori legends with a walking track that passes through native bush and offers great views. The region also has several golf courses, horse trekking experiences, and farm tours that give a closer look at rural life. In Palmerston North, you can enjoy local cafes, visit art galleries, or shop at the farmers' market. The pace here is calm, but there's plenty to do if you want to get outdoors, try something local, or just take it easy and enjoy the scenery.
