Experience Waiheke Island from a Māori perspective. Enjoy stunning sea views over the Hauraki Gulf and white sand beaches before visiting the heart of the Māori community. Learn about carving, tattooing, the revitalisation of Māori language and the impact of colonisation, from archaeological remains to stories of the places you’ll visit. Award-winning wine and olive oil industries have flourished here - you have the option to taste both at a local vineyard; lunch is at a local cafe. Walk through native bush, learn the medicinal Māori uses of traditional plants, while spotting native birds like tui, kereru and piwakawaka.
