Your day begins with a private pickup in Auckland and a scenic journey through the Waikato countryside. Travel comfortably with your Guest Experience Host, passing green pastures and rolling hills, with opportunities to pause for photographs along the way. At Waitomo, meet your specialist caving guides and prepare for the five-hour Black Abyss experience.

Drive Through Bombay Hills Into Waikato Region

The Bombay Hills are a range of hills to the south of Auckland, New Zealand. Though only a small and seemingly insignificant range of hills, they lie at the southern boundary of the Auckland region, and serve as a divide between Auckland and the Waikato region. directly named after the ship Bombay, The ship itself was named after the Indian city of Bombay (now Mumbai). Bombay Means: a breed of black short-haired medium-sized cat.

Journey Into Waitomo Region

Te Awamutu calls itself the ‘Rose Capital of New Zealand’. During the blooming season, November to April, the garden next to the visitor centre is a technicolour dream as 2000 rose bushes turn on the charm.

Black Abyss Ultimate Caving Experience

After a safety briefing and equipment fitting, begin your descent into Ruakuri Cave by abseil. Zipline through the darkness, float along underground waterways on an inner tube and climb cascading waterfalls as you explore this remarkable cave system. Between the physical challenges, take in delicate limestone formations and the glow of thousands of tiny lights overhead. Your guides provide instruction and support throughout, so previous caving experience is not required. A break for New Zealand chocolate and a hot drink offers a welcome chance to recharge underground.

Once back above ground, enjoy an included café-style lunch in Waitomo and reflect on the day’s discoveries. Rejoin your Guest Experience Host for the comfortable private drive back to Auckland, leaving the navigation to us after an active day beneath the surface.

Our central meeting point in Auckland City is in front of Movenpick Hotel (8 Customs Street East, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010). This meeting point is well connected with Auckland's public transport network. Kindly advise us if you will be meeting us at this location.

Guides at Waitomo reserve the right to refuse to take anyone into the cave that they consider to be unsuited for the tour (e.g., physically incapable, or too small). No refunds are provided in these circumstances.

No caving experience is needed!

You do need to be comfortable in the water, however swimming is not a necessity. You will have a tube to aid you in floating as well as expert guides.

Each participant requested to complete a disclosure document and provide information relation to health, physicality, impairments, and water preparedness.
