Get ready for a thrilling adventure in the shark machine! Launching from our central Queenstown location, we'll embark on an adrenaline-fueled journey across the beautiful Lake Whakatipu. Imagine a stunt plane on water - sit comfortably in the cockpit and brace yourself for the g-forces as one of our skilled pilots delivers an unforgettable experience. Gaze through the F-16 fighter-grade glass of the semi-submersible shark, and watch the sky vanish as your pilot dives deep beneath the water, only to breach the surface and propel the entire 6-meter-long shark into the air. Capable of rolling at a 90-degree angle, performing tight doughnut turns, and reaching top speeds of 80 kph on water and 40 kph underwater, this exhilarating experience is one you won't soon forget.

It’s time to scream in the shark machine.
You’re inside what feels like a cross between a fighter jet and a torpedo.
It’s skimming across the top of the lake at 80kph then it dives under the water, surrounding you in serene liquid blue.
Next your pilot points the shark at the sky and it blasts back out again, straight up into the air before shattering the lake into a million crystal shards on a screaming re-entry.
Whatever else you’ve done in the name of extreme excitement, nothing has prepared you for a ride in one of Hydro Attack’s sharks.
Hydro Attack is the world’s first commercial operator of these unique semi-submersible machines so while you’re in Queenstown don’t miss your chance to have a go.
Trips are one-on-one with our pilot so you get to choose - how mild or wild do you want to go?
 
Trips depart 3 times per hour from our wharf on the Queenstown lakefront. Space can be ,imited so booking in advance is recommended. 
Six years old is the minimum age to ride in the shark and we do have height and weight restrictions (see additional information for details).

Meeting Point

Please check in ten minutes before your ride departure time at our kiosk on the Lapsley Butson Wharf on the Queenstown lakefront by Earnslaw Park. (Next to Perkys Floating Bar and Pedro's By the Lake Restaurant.)
Accomodation pickups aren't available.

Additional Information

The minimum ride to ride is six years old. Hydro Attack isn't recommended for pregnant people or anyone with serious neck, back, hip or knee issues. Due to the cosy confines of the cockpit, we need to make sure that all our passengers can get in and out of the cockpit quickly and safely in the unlikely event of an emergency. Due to this, there is a recommended maximum height restriction of 195cm (6ft 4’) and a maximum recommended weight restriction of 105kg (232lbs or 16.5 stone) in place. If you’re over the height or weight restriction we would need you to come down to our operating berth prior to booking so one of our team can assess whether you will be comfortable in the craft. Please contact the Hydro Attack team if you are unsure whether to book or not.

Cancellation policy

Full refund if cancelled up to 24 hours before activity starts.

Good weather is required for this experience. If we need to cancel due to poor weather, you'll be offered a different date or a full refund.

WINDY WEATHER: If it's too windy on the main body of the lake for us to operate, whenever possible we will give you a call in advance about our windy weather option.
