Complementary evening penguin tour in season, discounted sea-kayaking and an opportunity to walk the beautiful bush and waterfall section of the well-known Banks Track. Visit to the spectacular cliff-tops of the Akaroa Heads Lighthouse Reserve.

At night gaze up and see the milky way and wake up to the sound of birdsong, sheep and the sea.

Escape it all and spend 24 or 48 hours in stunning isolated Pohatu bay. With private sleeping units we can welcome couple on a romantic escape or group of friends looking for an adventure break.

What is Included:
- FREE Evening Penguin Tour (if in season). Penguin presence.
- Highly discounted sea-kayaking.
- Visit to the spectacular cliff-tops of the Akaroa Heads Lighthouse Reserve.
- Opportunity to walk along the gentle river and waterfalls of the Tutakakahikura Scenic Reserve. Fully forested and downhill walk part of the well-known Banks Track. 3-hour & 1.5-hour options available.
- Fully equipped communal kitchen, linen, toilet, shower, etc.
- Gaze up at the night sky to see the brilliant Milkyway.
- Wake up to the sound of birdsong, sheep and the sea.

Itinerary:
- 11.45 am (11.15 am from May to August)
Meet us at our office in Akaroa to check in and load your bags in our vehicle.

- 12 pm to 2 pm
Follow the guide/our vehicle and park your vehicle just outside Akaroa
Enjoy a stunning scenic drive with photo stops along the way and up to 700 meters on the edge of Akaroa extinct volcano crater rim.
At the entrance of Akaroa harbour and Akaroa Lighthouse scenic reserve, you will stand on high cliffs looking at a giant spyglass. 10 to 45 minutes’ walk is available depending on your fitness and desire.

- 2 pm to 3.5/5 pm
Optional self-guided bush walk through the Tutakakahikura scenic reserve (2 to 3 hours walking down to your accommodation), there are different starting points available.

- Free time to relax and settle in your accommodation before the complimentary evening penguin tour. Before dropping you off for the bush walk, the guide will let you know of the exact timing of the evening penguin tour as it changes due to the sunset.

- The next morning, starting at 8.30 am, you can add the guided sea-kayaking trip before being brought back to Akaroa just before midday.

What to Bring:
- Food for 24-48 hours depending on package selection.
- Warm clothing for the evening.
- If kayaking, clothes you don’t mind getting wet. Water shoes are not necessary.
- Hiking boots/shoes or athletic shoes for the bush walk.
