Enjoy rapids, waves and the beautiful Kawarau River on a sturdy, easy to hold, very buoyant manoeuvrable sledge. The sledge keeps you more on the surface of the water than the bodyboards. You still get all the action packed fun of the rapids and the cliff jump, as well as a relaxing float. You just get a little more help from the sledge! 9km of pristine beautiful water, It’s a trip not to be missed.

Sledge New Zealand’s best white water on a sturdy buoyant board that is easy to manoeuvre.

Sledge grade 2-3 white water on special river purpose boards.  

Sturdy, easy to hold on to, very buoyant and highly manoeuvrable, the sledge keeps you slightly more above the water than bodyboards.  This is an action packed white water adventure for true water lovers.

We start our trip in a secret calm eddy after an introduction on the basic sledging techniques.  Here you must perform the minimum skills required to experience this trip.

As we head to the main flow, hold on tight and feel the power of the river as the adrenaline kicks in. Ride fast flowing rapids, blast through waves, spin on giant whirlpools and try wicked rock jumps. 

There is a calm final section that allows you to take n the scenery, and chill.

Meeting Point

Meeting point is at the loading zone at 5 Duke Street, at the back of the bakery and opposite the Sofitel. Please arrive at the departure time.

There is a minimum number of travellers for this experience. If the minimum isn't met and we need to cancel, we will offer a different date/experience or a full refund.
