A visit to the workshop of Romeyn Woodcrafts a family business : showcasing housewares : boards, table mats, coasters, pens, puzzles etc made from native NZ timber: including Kauri one of the world’s mightiest trees, growing to over 50mtrs tall, with trunk girths up to 16mtrs, and living for over 2,000 years.
Honey Paihia is where you will be tasting honey including NZ’s famous manuka hear about our local bush area and conservation program for kiwi. Next we visit the Historic Stone Store Mission Station by the Kerikeri River. where NZ’s oldest buildings : Kemp House and the Stone Store are offering a range of 1800’s authentic goods and a quirky range of uniquely New Zealand souvenirs. Embrace the beauty of this area & the birds that make it their home while hearing about the Maori & European history.
Marsden Estate : Is where we enjoy lunch (extra cost) Known for the relaxed atmosphere of its courtyard dining space overlooking the lake and vines, with innovative cuisine that showcases the unique flavours of the region.
From lunch we visit Makana Confections Chocolate factory – offering a sample of their hand-made quality confections. See the chocolates being made through the glass wall. Italian Gelato is available in their cafe to taste : maybe get one to go.
Venture into the Kauri Workshop & Gifts with an amazing array to choose from.
We return via Haruru Falls & the Waitangi lookout – with spectacular views of ships & the islands of the Bay.
