3. Rangitoto Island

4. Climb a volcano

Yep, that's Right, you can climb a volcano! The terrain of Auckland is peppered with 48 volcanoes, all of which are dormant and offer 360-degree vistas of the city. Mount Eden is the city's highest natural point, and its 50-meter-deep crater and surroundings have a significant Mori history. Walk to the summit of Takarunga or Maungauika in Devonport, or to Cornwall Park and Maungakiekie, one of New Zealand's largest former Māori settlement complexes.

5. Auckland arts and culture

Explore the TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre's lovely historic Pah Homestead to explore ever-changing modern art shows. Residents of New Zealand can also visit the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki for free, where they can walk among more than 15,000 classic and modern works of art. The Auckland War Memorial Museum has a variety of permanent and temporary exhibitions that explore the tales of Auckland and our distinctive land; admission is free for Aucklanders and visitors.

6. Walking tracks

Take your pick from the thousands of walking routes throughout Auckland, ranging from short and easy treks to demanding hikes. Explore the stunning black-sand beaches of the west coast, the lush Hunua Ranges in the east, a stroll through native forest on an island, a city heritage route, or the different landscapes of Auckland's parks.

7. Ride on the Pink Cycle Trail

The Pink Cycle Trail is a must-see in Auckland. This bright pink bike route serves as an art installation as well as a functional roadway.

The view from this fluro trail is breathtaking at any time of day, but for the complete experience and sensation, we recommend going late at night when the sun begins to set.

8. The New Zealand Maritime Museum

The Maritime Museum is located near the harbour and is easily accessible. It's worth understanding more about our relationship with the water in a country and city where life by the sea is explicitly connected.

This museum features a variety of interactive exhibits that teach you everything you need to know about the New Zealand maritime industry. It also provides insight into what life would have been like for an immigrant in the past. This is a fully immersive experience; you will be issued a ticket to join the ship and participate in the adventure.

This Museum is a must-see for people of all ages.

9. Movie at an Open-Air Cinema

This is a fantastic free Auckland activity for couples and families. The next time you're searching for a cheap activity, grab your picnic blanket, supper, and beverages and enjoy a blockbuster beneath the stars!

Outdoor movies are available across Auckland during the summer season.

These screenings (which typically feature food carts where you can purchase snacks) are organised by the Auckland Council and offer a wide range of film genres.

10. Night Market

There is no charge to visit a night market in Auckland, just as there is no charge to visit a farmers' market, though you will need some cash if you want to buy something.

Expect a lot more than just food at these markets, music, performances, shopping, and more, and they're a terrific way to spend a low-cost evening. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Italian, Polish, and other cuisines are offered in the Auckland night markets. Everyone will find something to their liking.
