Central Otago is one of the world's great wine regions — and the Gibbston Valley, nestled in a stunning gorge just 30 minutes from Queenstown, is where some of its finest wines are made. This is your invitation to explore it properly.

The Southern Discoveries Wine Tour is a small-group, intimate half-day experience designed for people who actually love wine. With just 12 guests maximum, pre-arranged tastings at every stop, and a friendly driver-guide taking care of everything, this is a locals' wine tour — relaxed, personal, and genuinely special.

Your afternoon takes you to four of Gibbston Valley's most celebrated wineries: Chard Farm, with its striking Tuscan-inspired architecture and sweeping vineyard views; Waitiri Creek, one of the valley's original producers housed in a historic woolshed; Brennan Wines, a boutique family-run operation pouring small-batch estate fruit with some genuinely interesting varietals; and Nockie's Palette, where art meets wine in a creative and eclectic cellar door at Lake Hayes.

At each stop, a passionate cellar door host will walk you through their wines — sharing the story of the vineyard, the vintage, and what makes Central Otago Pinot Noir so extraordinary. You'll taste a range of styles across the afternoon, and have plenty of opportunity to purchase bottles to take home (many wineries also offer shipping).

A light platter is included during the tour, and you'll travel between wineries in a premium Mercedes Sprinter with complimentary Wi-Fi. Daily departures at 10am from central Queenstown accommodation, returning after approximately 5 hours.
