Rob Roy Glacier Experience

Your day begins with pick-up from your accommodation, and a scenic drive around Lake Wanaka into the Matukituki Valley. After driving through several fords, we arrive at Raspberry Hut. From here, the guided walk begins along the banks of the Matukituki River.

Your day begins with pick-up from your accommodation, and a scenic drive around Lake Wanaka into the Matukituki Valley. After driving through several fords, we arrive at Raspberry Hut. From here, the guided walk begins along the banks of the Matukituki River.

We enter Mt Aspiring National Park via a swing bridge across the river, then the walk steadily climbs into New Zealand Beech Rainforest with a wide variety of flaura & fauna.

After walking for 2.5 hours, the forest drops away and we enter open ground. Here the beauty of Rob Roy Glacier unfolds. Take time to relax and enjoy one of the best views Mother Nature offers, whilst eating a gourmet lunch!

Our experienced local guides are with you from pick-up to drop-off, offering their knowledge of the area, it's history, flaura & fauna.

Itinerary

Many things affect the journey through the Matukituki valley so times are subject to change.

This is a 10km walk so be prepared for this. If unsure call us for more information.

* 0830 - 0900 Accommodation Pick up
* 0900 - Depart Wanaka to Raspberry Flat
* 1000 - Matukituki Valley
* 1045 - Arrive Raspberry Flat
* 1100 - Depart to Rob Roy Glacier track
* 1300 - Arrive Glacier viewpoint, enjoy lunch
* 1400 - Depart viewpont to return to Raspberry Flat
* 1600 - Depart Raspberry Flat to return to Wanaka
* 1730 - Arrive Wanaka

Operator Cancellations

* We reserve the right to alter, amend or cancel any trip should weather or any other circumstance necessitate this.
* Once your tour has departed from your pick-up location, no portion of the package payment is refundable in the event of an individual or group being unable to proceed further on the track, for whatever reason.
* At all times your safety is paramount and an alternate tour will be arranged by our guides if safe to do so.
What to bring:
* Comfortable walking shoes or boots
* Removable layers
* A rainproof jacket
* A minimum of 1 Litre of water
* A healthy dose of enthusiasm to enjoy your time in the mountains!
restrictions: This is a 10km hike.

* Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level.
* You should be able to walk for 2 - 3 hours on a graded track, with a day pack, some steep or slippery sections.
* This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
