Milford Sound is one of those places where nature feels big and peaceful at the same time. It’s surrounded by steep cliffs, tall mountains, and huge waterfalls. Most people start by taking a boat cruise through the fiord. It’s a calm ride where you’ll see waterfalls like Stirling Falls up close and might spot dolphins, seals, or penguins.
If you want something more active, kayaking is a great way to explore the water. It’s quiet, and you can get close to the cliffs and waterfalls. Guided tours are available, even if you’ve never paddled before. For those who like walking, there are shorter trails like the Foreshore Walk, or you can take on part of the famous Milford Track, one of the top hikes in the country.
