Itinerary
10:00 AM – Depart Wellington CBDBegin your day with a scenic drive northeast from central Wellington, following the beautiful Hutt River through the Hutt Valley. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the commentary from your driver guide as the city gives way to lush countryside.

10:30 AM – Kaitoke Regional Park (Rivendell)
Arrive at Kaitoke Regional Park, a lush native rainforest famously featured as Rivendell in The Lord of the Rings. Take a refreshing walk across the swing bridge and enjoy a short loop trail through pristine native bush beneath towering rimu and kahikatea trees.

11:15 AM – Remutaka Ranges Summit Stop
Continue your journey over the dramatic Remutaka Hill Ranges, stopping at the 555m summit for spectacular views across the valley and rugged mountain landscape.

11:30 AM – Stop at the artisan cheese store C’est Cheese for a casual tasting of handcrafted local cheeses.

12:00 PM – Chocolate Tasting at Schoc Chocolates, Greytown
Indulge your sweet tooth with a visit to Schoc Chocolates in the charming boutique town of Greytown. Sample unique flavour combinations crafted from the finest couverture chocolate.

12:30 - 2:00 PM – Martinborough Wine Region & Vineyard Lunch
Arrive in the renowned wine village of Martinborough. Visit a selection of the region’s award-winning wineries to enjoy exclusive cellar door tastings and sample world-class wines.

Savour a sumptuous lunch at one of Martinborough’s celebrated vineyard restaurants, surrounded by vines and rolling countryside.

2:00-3:00 PM – Cape Palliser Coastal Drive
After lunch, journey south along the stunning Wairarapa coast toward Cape Palliser. Enjoy breathtaking coastal scenery as you pass windswept bays and rural farmland.

3:00-4:00 PM – Ngawi Fishing Village & Cape Palliser Lighthouse
Discover the quirky fishing village of Ngawi, famous for its line of colourful tractors used to launch fishing boats. Continue to the iconic Cape Palliser Lighthouse—test your fitness on the 250-step climb for panoramic ocean views and perhaps a glimpse of fur seals basking on the rocks below.

5:30 PM – Lake Ferry & Dinner at Lake Ferry Hotel
Travel north to Lake Ferry, where Lake Onoke meets the sea. Take a short walk along the lakeshore while learning about the area’s natural history before sitting down to a hearty dinner at the historic Lake Ferry Hotel, overlooking the coast.

7:00 PM – Return to Wellington
Relax on the return journey across the Remutaka Ranges and through the Hutt Valley, reflecting on an unforgettable day of scenery, flavours, and local charm.

8:00 PM – Drop-off in Wellington CBD

Highlights: - Explore Kaitoke Regional Park with a swing bridge crossing and a loop walk through pristine native rainforest.

Martinborough Vineyard Experience – Sip award-winning wines and enjoy a delicious vineyard lunch.
