The revitalizing mineral waters of Ngawha Springs are a haven of natural healing nestled in Te Tai Tokerau, Northland. According to Māori tradition, these geothermal pools are created by Ruaumoko, the unborn child of Papatuanuku, whose movements cause the thermal activity that brings forth the mineral-rich waters from deep within the Earth. For centuries, the people of Ngapuhi and visitors alike have sought these sacred waters to alleviate pain, restore wairua (spirit), and address common ailments.
Each of the 16 public and 8 private geothermal pools at Ngawha Springs boasts unique properties, varying in temperature, color, and mineral content. Whether you seek the communal experience of the public springs or the intimacy of a private soak, you will feel the warmth of Papatuanuku envelop you, renewing your connection to nature and the ancestral spirits. This is more than just a bathing experience; it’s a journey into the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand’s cultural, environmental, and spiritual heritage.
As stewards of these sacred waters, we invite you to join us in respecting and preserving this unique wellness experience for generations to come. Whether you are here to soak in the therapeutic waters or to connect with the land's ancient energy, Ngawha Springs offers a serene escape into nature's embrace.
