Pauanui is a favourite holiday beach destination. Just two hours drive from Auckland. Located in the beautiful Coromandel region of New Zealand. Just back from the beach is the small and friendly Pauanui township with cafes and local stores. It lies at the mouth of the Tairua River on its southern bank. The sandy Pauanui beach is a popular place to be in summer, attracting about 15,000 holiday makers who spend their days taking part in the different activities on offer. The course can be started from the parking lot at the end of Tangitarori Lane. The road goes on past the Thames Coromandel District Council's Memorial Forest, which commemorates the WWI Sinai-Palestine campaign. Just after the Forest, a brief loop track begins. You can continue on the inland or riverfront portions of the circle, or you can take the significantly shorter circular walk - around 1.2km back to Tangitarori Lane. The riverfront section of the loop runs through mangrove marshes and across boardwalks.
