Full Description

Taupo return shuttle picks you up from your accommodation if you are central or from the Taupo information centre. You are then taken on a 1.5 hour drive to the start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing at Mangatepopo car park. You are given a map and information sheet. You hike for 6-7 hours and we meet you at the ketetahi car park in the afternoon to then take you back to your original pick up location.

This is to be confirmed as we can pick up from most accommodation places in Taupo town. If you are staying out of town we pick up from the Taupo information centre on Tongariro Street.

Additional Information

Please be at your pick up location 10 mins before your pick up time. There is no contact number in the morning to check out your pick up spot the day before and if you have any questions email us prior to your trip so you are confident with where to wait.

Due to the unstable nature of the weather in an alpine environment, we send you a weather update the day before your trip. Please check your emails for this as if we need to cancel this is the way you would find out. Not as likely, but it could happen, if we do not reach the minimum number to run the shuttles we also may cancel the day before for this reason. Again please check your emails for advice on this. It is your responsibility to prepare food and clothing appropriate for an alpine all day hike. Do not underestimate how cold, hot, thirsty and hungry you may get. Prepare well and you will have a good day.
