Freedom kayaking with Kahu Kayaks gives you the independence to see the wonders of the coastline at your own pace. We will equip you with everything you need to have an enjoyable and safe sea kayaking experience. NOTE: for two or more people, Double Kayaks are used unless the group has an uneven number.

Kayaks usually need to be returned by late afternoon (around 4–5 PM), depending on conditions and the length of your rental. The team will confirm your exact latest return time before departure.

What should I wear for a freedom kayak trip?

You are recommended to wear quick-drying active wear (avoid cotton), a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses with a strap, and a windproof layer. Wear footwear you don’t mind getting wet, such as sandals, water shoes, or old sneakers.

Is camping overnight an option with these rentals?

Yes, Kahu Kayaks offers multi-day freedom rentals, and you can camp overnight at Department of Conservation (DOC) campsites within Abel Tasman National Park.
