The oldest railway in the North Island of New Zealand, and the only one to go along a main street of a town in NZ. We visit the longest curved wooden bridge in the Southern Hemisphere in Taumarere. Trains depart 4 times daily on Friday, Saturday, Sunday all year; and every day in school holidays (except Christmas Day). Trains depart 10.45am, 12 noon, 1.15pm, 2.30pm. Return trip about 50 minutes. Return fares: $20 adult, $18 NZ Gold Card, $5 school age child, free under school age, $45 family (defined as 2 adults and up to 3 children). Single-one way fares: $10 adult, $2.50 school age child.

We run alongside the Twin Coast Cycleway and can carry bicycles on the train.
